Data Team Manager

Our client is a fast growing compliance startup which offers a complete compliance management suite for all ‘know your customer’ requirements in the financial services and other sectors that wish to provide their services in the cyberspace. The company’s platform provides an integrated solution that is banking-core friendly and that spans both photo and live video identity verification, data monitoring, screening, due-diligence, risk scoring and case management.

What You’ll Do

• Lead a cross-functional data team of ML engineers, data scientists, developers, and data annotators.
• Translate business needs into AI solutions that deliver measurable impact.
• Drive the development of ML and LLM models that enhance Ondato’s products (e.g., identity verification, fraud prevention, compliance automation).
• Oversee data annotation projects, ensuring high-quality labeled datasets for model training and fine-tuning.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate ML/AI features seamlessly into solutions.
• Collaborate with KYC and QA departments assuring best automation level and decisions/data quality.
• Ensure data quality, compliance, and security in alignment with industry standards.
• Stay ahead of AI trends (ML, LLMs, generative AI, deep learning) to guide data strategy.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience managing of teams that develop AI solutions (data scientists, ML engineers or developers).
• Strong technical expertise in computer vision, machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), large language models (LLMs).
• Hands-on experience with Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Familiarity with data annotation platforms and workflows.
• Understanding of data pipelines, MLOps, and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Strong organizational and project management skills to deliver high-quality AI projects on time.
• Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between technical teams and product stakeholders.
• Experience in fintech, regtech, or compliance-related AI solutions is a plus.
